We recently purchased a Grimm's Spiel and Holz Design Rainbow. The rainbows come in various sizes. We got the medium one.
Grimm's Spiel and Holz Design Rainbows come in minimal packaging, to reduce their environmental impact:

They are made from wood from sustainably managed European forests and the colors are certified in accordance with the EN 71 and CPSIA/ASTM 963 standards.
The rainbow has a grittier feel to it than a lot of our other wooden toys but that seems to be part of its beauty. We did notice some color transfer when the kids banged pieces against each other:

In addition to being fun stacking and nesting toys, these rainbows are great for open-ended play. Below are just some of the many configurations my kids and I were able to make with this simple, beautifully made rainbow.
You can see more, including some rainbow sculptures, on Grimm's Spiel and Holz's website. And you can see the other toys in their Elements line, (fire, earth, and water waves), and their various sizes by searching their website as well. (I will be posting about their Water Waves next week).
You can purchase Grimm's Spiel and Holz toys at independent toy stores and from online retailers like Amazon, Cedar Ring Circle, and A Mighty Nest. There are many sizes available so be sure to check the dimensions to get the size you want.
Check back every Monday and Thursday for new posts, including more info on green toys and products and more DIY toys. Next Thursday I'll be posting my tutorial for the felt unicorn in the first picture, and next week I'll take a look at Grimm's Spiel and Holz Water Waves.
